Calcium is the most abundant mineral in the body. However, the general level of calcium intake in the Western diet is much lower than is required for optimal health. Calcium plays an important role in the body, but it does not act alone. It has to be present in abundance with other minerals and cofactors (especially magnesium and Vitamin D) in order to play its pivotal role in health.
